Installing OnlyOffice on Elementary OS

There are a number of office suites for Linux and I have used most of them. One I hadn’t heard about until recently was OnlyOffice, which is available for Windows, Mac and Linux for free. I believe it is a Javascript/Electron based application but it performs very well for your office needs so lets give it ago.

OnlyOffice on Linux Elementary OS

Firstly you need to download the .deb package from the website you can find it here:

https://www.onlyoffice.com/download-desktop.aspx

Once downloaded, navigate using the terminal to the folder you downloaded the package to and run the installer:

sudo dpkg -i onlyoffice-desktopeditors_amd64.deb

This WILL FAIL because Elementary OS has a number of dependencies missing for OnlyOffice (GTK bindings and Font libs mainly) but not to worry simply run this command to install them:

sudo apt-get install -f

Once the dependencies are installed run the deb package again and you will now have OnlyOffice installed:

sudo dpkg -i onlyoffice-desktopeditors_amd64.deb
